Windows Live Messenger 8.5

Well it has been leaked and is available on many sites. I am not even going to bother showing you where.

Here is a nice little screenshot for you all to drool over. :P

MSN8.5

PS: If you didn’t notice on the first line. There is a link on the word “where”. It’s in torrent format but this is better as it keep everyone out of trouble. :D

Thanks FyzicalStudios

Well a few months back I bought two skins from FyzicalStuido’s and they cost quite a bit off cash. I bought them in faith that they would be upgraded to IPB 2.2 version once the new IPB had been released.

Sadly as soon as I departed with my money it all went downhill. The owner wanted money to convert the skins to the new format and not just for one but both and the price he was asking was nearly the retail price of the skin.

Here is screenshots of the skins running under IPB 2.1.7. Well if anyone from FyzicalStudio’s want to leave a comment or PM me feel free as I would love to hear from you.

Upgraded Wordpress

Well just a quick post to let you know that’s the wordpress updated after 14 days of it being released. The delay was due to waiting for Fantistico to upgrade it’s packages. :(

Nothing much else has happened. :D

Stolen Header Image

Well this week has I have been unearthing some blogs that have blatantly ripped my header image. :@

This was created by me for me! So please don’t steal it. Open PhotoShop and make something of your own it’s not that hard. :|

As for William I have chatted to him and its OK. :P

If you really need to use the header image a link back to the blog would be nice. :D

Loving No School

Well as you may or may not know I haven’t had school for weeks and I am loving it. :D

Unfortunately this is the last week as I go back to start my highers. :(

I picked the following higher subjects:

English
Computing
Modern Studies
Business Management
Tech

Will be hard work but will be 100% when I finally get going to collage especially the English higher as they love that. :P

Server Load Issue Fixed

Well that’s the server load issues fixed. Turns out it was some root services using up some of CPU. Most likley caused by a spammer using the server to send out loads of emails. The load is not down at 0.28 which is much better and the server is running as fast as ever. :D

Will be monitoring it over the next few hours just to make sure it’s staying down. Got a hold of every Paul Van Dyke album made. Was a massive 1.89GB but the broadband managed it in just a few hours. His songs are amazing. :D

If you want to see what else I listen to check out my Last.fm profile.

Crap CPanel Backup & Server Load Spikes

Well have a few problems with my web server this morning. :(

First is more a annoyance that it is a problem. When you want to backup your whole servers contents you have to use something that will compress it into one file and allow you to download it. On my server the control panel I use is CPanel 10. This has a nice backup module but a not so nice option list. You can download separate SQL databases which is nice for forums and blogs like this one but no good at all for restoring whole sites. It also has a whole home directory backup which is good as that’s basically everything that’s on the server. This however does not work for me as one of my sites has over 2 GB of downloads. The backup has to include these and slows it down considerably and makes what would be a a few hundred MB download into one that’s over 2.5GB. :@

The other quite bad problem is the current load spikes that are taking place. I have been keeping an eye on the process list and nothing seems to be taking up the CPU but the load sits at 9.43 and things like that. It doesn’t sound that high but it is when you consider its a quad core Intel Xeon doing a little bit of web serving and some emails. It sometimes gets so high that pages refuse to load and I am forced to sit there for 5 to 10 minutes until the load comes down enough to do anything about it. :|

So the job for today is to get in touch with the data centre administrators and try to work out what’s causing these spikes and get it solved as quickly as possible. (yn)

New PC Specifications Changed Again

Well after some investigation, reading reviews and more importantly deciding exactly what I want the new machine to do I have made further changes to the new system due to be built in August sometime.

The new specification is as followed:
Intel Core 2 Duo 6420 | Socket 775 | 2.13 GHz | 1066MHz FSB | Conroe Core | 4MB Cache | Retail
Asus P5B-Deluxe Wi-Fi AP
74 GB Western Digital Raptor | 10,000RPM | Sata150
256MB Asus Fanless 8500GT | DX10
2GB Matched GeiL Ultra Low Latancy RAM | PC6400
Antec Nine Hundred Gaming Case
Tagen 530W PSU
2 x Optiarc DVD-RW
500GB Western Digital HDD | 16MB Cache | SataII

The total price of this comes in at just over 600 pounds.

Again opinions and comments are welcome.

Fast Broadband & Torrents

Well in my last post I said the broadband speed was sitting at 3.2mb/s but now its increased to 5.1mb/s since the line is still within the 10 day training period. :)

I have been taking advantage of these nice new speeds by downloading a lot of torrents. Thanks to William I now have a account on HD Bits which is simply amazing. Everything is available on there and every torrent max’s out my line so no waiting an age for something to download. To date I have downloaded about 15GB worth of high definition content and im loving every bit of it. :D

I usually wait until night for the big films as I don’t want my new connection throttled by Virgin Media although they insure me that they dont in any shape or form but then again so did BT. :P

Broadband Finally Activated

After a long delay of 5 days :P I finally got the text I was after this morning telling me that the broadband service was now active on my line and I could now plug in my router and get started.

That was genius as I was due in the exam hall for my modern studies exam in about 20 minutes. So after plugging in the sexy NetGear and a moment of panic as nothing happened the internet finally flickered and then went solid. I was go! Quick check of the speed in the routers web interface shows im sitting at a nice 3.3MB/s. :)

Well I had to leave it and go to my exam which was pretty easy going. Amazing what a couple of minutes of last minute studying can do. :D

Tonight will be the real test as it will begin downloading pretty large torrents. :P All legal of course. (A)

I will leave you with a picture of the new sexy router in all its glory. (There is only one LAN light on because I use another NetGear switch).

Erm. Thumbnails seems to be broke or missing so just have to leave an old fashioned link to the picture below.
